Before learning OSGi (Equinox in particular), I am not aware that there are such architectures (Declarative Service, Extension Registry and iPOJO) to achieve Open/Closed Principle. I think this is known as Unconscious Ignorance.

Now, I am still in Conscious Ignorance state of learning OSGi.

Nuxeo (Open Source ECM Service Platform) has a plugin architecture inspired by Equinox Extension Registry which allows extensions to provide new services and features to Nuxeo core. It is really cool…

On the other hand, hopefully Nuxeo’ ECR proposal will be accepted by Eclipse Foundation (because I am learning it and therefore wish it gaining more popularity).
