Drools Flow allow Domain Specific Work Items to be defined in its visual process editor. Although it is powerful, it is a bit troublesome for simple service.

So I create 2 types of generic work item handler for Drools Flow

  1. bean work item handler
  2. Seam component work item handler

For bean work item handler, the handler has 3 parameters:

  • Class: class of the work item bean
  • Method: argument-less method to be invoked
  • Variables: names of process variables to be injected into the work item bean

For Seam component work item handler, the handler has 2 parameters:

  • EL: expression language of method to be invoked
  • Variables: names of process variables to be set into Seam Event Context (Contexts.getEventContext().set(var, paramMap.get(var));) so that those variables will be injected automatically into the component by Seam
